So you've read what we're about and are interested in practicing, competing, and helping grow our organization. Please review our membership requirements and complete the form below to inquire about joining.
Our weekly Sunday practices at Emerald City Gymnastics are typically not supervised by a coach. Members are expected to be able to safely train on their own with minimal structure and direction. Therefore, we ask that new members have a minimum of 6 months of gymnastics experience prior to joining. If you are just starting out or looking to build your gymnastics foundation, several gyms in the area offer adult gymnastics classes with experienced coaches to help you attain the required level of experience.
As part of our facility use agreement with Emerald City Gymnastics, the Seals must respect gym policies, and utilize equipment safely and properly. Members must:
Maintain active registration and annual insurance fee with Emerald City
Clean up any mats or other equipment before leaving practice
Refrain from using chalk on the balance beams
Enter through the main lobby entrance only
Never practice alone
One of the primary goals of the Seattle Seals is to provide competition opportunities for adult gymnasts of all levels. As a member of the Seals, individuals are expected to be part of our competitive team.
We know that it can take some time to feel ready for competition – new members are not required to compete during their first season, but are expected to be working toward competing by their second year.
Seattle Seals is affiliated with and sanctioned by the National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics Clubs (NAIGC). Each team member is required to maintain current membership with NAIGC. Any member who is not registered with NAIGC cannot compete in any NAIGC sanctioned competitions.
Our goal is to create a cohesive team environment where all members feel valued and supported. We expect all members to demonstrate inclusion and good sportsmanship.
Occasionally, the Seals may host or participate in a fundraising event to benefit the team or help offset competition expenses. All members are expected to contribute to these efforts in some way.
We often host opportunities to gather for social events outside of our regular gym time. While these activities are never required, we encourage team members to attend when possible to strengthen our connections and camaraderie.
We primarily communicate using Facebook Messenger. New members will be added to the channel upon joining.
